Because of a misdemeanor battery conviction Thomas Clayton, Kansas State's leading rusher last year, has been suspended for the season opener Sept. 2 against Illinois State.
Clayton, who will be a senior, was convicted Friday stemming from an incident last September in which he struck a university parking services employee with his car.
Clayton rushed for 637 yards on 137 carries last season. He will be sentenced July 10, could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
It makes you wonder how these guys are able to attain a college education at their level of stupidity.
