Mariners Sliding Closer

Why can’t Seattle play in the NL West? Oh yeah because they are an American League team. The Mariners swept the Giants earlier in the week and now have taken the first two games of their series with the Dodgers thanks to former Dodger Adrian Beltre.

Beltre went 2-for-3 Tuesday with a home run, double, four runs scored and two walks then followed it up Wednesday night by hitting a two-run double in the eighth inning to drive in the go-ahead runs sending the Mariners on their way to an 8-5 win.
The win was the fifth straight and 14th in 19 games for Seattle, who are 8-0 in interleague play -- all against the NL West.

The Mariners were the only AL West team to win on Tuesday night catching them up a game on the Athletics and Rangers. The Rangers were the only AL West team to lose on Wednesday night moving Seattle another game closer to second place and still only four games out of first.

I still say that the Rangers are going to collapse after the All-Star break and could be starting now. The Padres are a game away from a Rangers sweep before hosting the Mariners beginning on Friday.
