Bring Out the Brooms

Seattle finished a three game sweep of the Angels with a 6-2 win that was sparked by a three run 5th and a complete game, four pitch performance by pitcher Felix Hernandez.

The sweep put the Angels 2.5 games beneath the Mariners in last place and also put Seattle 4 games behind the Rangers for first. Standing between the Mariners and the Rangers are the Oakland A’s, Seattle’s next opponent.

Both the Mariners and the A’s have won 8 of their last 10 games and in my opinion have more talent than the first place Rangers. There is a great chance that one of these two teams will win the division which makes this series all the more important. If Seattle can take two of three or get a sweep here then they will be sitting pretty good.

While Seattle and Oakland are battling it out the Rangers will be hosting the White Sox for a four game series. The AL West Standings could look very different by the end of this week.
