.500 Baby!

The Mariners won a slugfest 11-7 over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night to even their record at 39-39 and pull within three games of the first place Athletics.

Seattle was the only AL West team to win on a night that saw the Rangers continue their slide, Oakland get blanked and the Angels get routed.

Seattle could use more nights like this but if they continue to play the way they have this month first place is just a matter of time. The Mariners are 10-2 over their last twelve games and have won 16 of their 23 games played this month.

Rookie Kenji Johjima was the Mariners hero Tuesday night going 2-4, scoring two runs and knocking in five RBI. The Mariners and Diamondback combined for a total of 22 hits.
