It’s Super Sunday and the greatest sporting event of all is just hours away from kick-off. The Seattle Seahawks come into the game as the NFC’s #1 seed but a four point underdog to the Pittsburgh Steelers who are the #6 seed from the AFC.
Super Bowl XL has several interesting storylines to follow.
• Ben Roethlisberger will be the second youngest quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl at the age of 23. 
• Mike Holmgren will attempt to become the first NFL head coach to win a Super Bowl with two different teams, while becoming just the fifth coach to reach the Super Bowl with two different teams.
• Anheuser-Busch will air more commercials during the Super Bowl than any other sponsor.
• Joey Porter and Jerramy Stevens will settle their, “My dad can beat up your dad” feud on the field.
Now that Joey Porter realizes that Seattle is actually going to play, let’s look at the game.
The Seahawks have the best offense and the Steelers boast the better defense but not by much. The Seahawks are averaging 369.7 yards and 28.2 points per game while the Steelers are managing to put up 321 yards and 24.3 points per game.
With all due respect to the Bus, Shaun Alexander should be the back getting all the attention right now. The NFL’s MVP is scoring touchdowns at a record pace and chewing up yards pretty consistently. If the Seahawks win then Alexander could be the Super Bowl MVP because he will have to have a very solid night against a tough Steelers defense to put Seattle in position to win.
The Steelers defense is only giving up 284 yards and 16.1 points per game while the Seahawks give up 316.8 yards and 16.9 points per game. Pittsburgh likes to bring the blitz from their 3-4 defensive scheme and if successful could have Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck frustrated and confused. However, if Hasselbeck can buy some time against the blitz then the Seattle receivers against the Steelers secondary match-up favors Seattle.
I know you are dying to know my prediction so here it is. I will be pulling for Seattle just because I am tired of hearing from Joey Porter and I don’t want to hear him talk about how he put Stevens in his place if the Steelers win. That said I’m picking Pittsburgh to win 31-24. The bottom line is that the Steelers are the hottest team in the NFL right now and I believe the AFC is a much stronger conference then the NFC. 
Your Super Bowl MVP is…
Even though the sympathetic choice will be to give it to Jerome Bettis, he will not have an MVP type of game. The real MVP for the World Champion Steelers is going to be Big Ben Roethlisberger.
