Sooners go 2-1 at Service Acadamies Classic

The Sooners went 2-1 in the Service Acadamies Classic this weekend. After losing the first game 2-1 to Memphis on Friday OU bounced back to beat Indiana State 6-3 on Saturday and nationally ranked Notre Dame 4-3 on Sunday.

The Sooners are 2-1 against ranked teams this season with wins over Long Beach State and Notre Dame and a loss to Rice.

In the win over the Irish the Sooners rallied from behind and took the lead for good in the seventh inning off a Kody Kaiser (pictured) double to right center that scored Joseph Hughes and Kevin Smith.

“We got another outstanding pitching performance from our starter today,” said OU head coach Sunny Golloway, who is 21-9 at the Sooners’ helm. “P.J. (Sandoval) put together another quality start and he has been great for us in three straight weeks. His performance allowed us to get into a flow against a good team like Notre Dame.”

The Sooners are 9-3 on the season and will host Wichita State on Tuesday.
